We have a number of tips for cleaning and reusing your candle jars in the Sustainability Section. Click here to check them out
While we hate to say no to the QuinnSea crew, this time we must. All of our candles go through a rigorous testing cycle, ensuring you get a clean safe burn every single time. We only buy high quality jars that are made for candles, we are unable to determine the quality or safety of jars purchased elsewhere and therefore are not comfortable using them.
Refills are currently available only to those who can drop their jar off to Werribee or Melbourne CBD. Please Contact Us to order.
You bet! If you see something you like, you can simply Direct Message (DM) to order.
We predominantly sell pre-made candles. These have all been made and allowed to full cure for two weeks before we sell them to you.
What is curing and why do we need it? Curing is an important resting period that allows the soy wax and fragrance molecules to fully bind together. Without this curing time, your candle will still bun OK but the fragrance will not be as strong or even as it could be.
Some candles are listed as made to order. These will be made upon request and have not yet been cured. This means when you get the candle home you will need to wait two weeks before burning (we know this will test your patience!). We provide a little card with the dates so you can keep track.
Some candle makers will tell you that you don't need to worry about curing but it's an important part of the science behind the candle making process. Who are we to argue with science!
There are some leading candle manufactures who use the tag line ' triple scented'. This is a marketing gimmick and does not mean the candle has 3 times the amount of fragrance but instead refers to the Top, Heart and Base scent notes of the candle.
When making candles there is an important ratio of fragrance oil to wax. Too much fragrance oil will simply clog the wick and the candle will go out. To make the candle fragrance stronger, it's about temperatures and wick sizes and not just about adding extra fragrance (who knew candle making would involve so much maths!)
