Sustainability

We are eco-friendly because that makes sense, right? Our 100% soy wax is super friendly to the environment, biodegradable, renewable and completely carbon neutral.

Soy wax is derived from soya beans. This plant-based alternative to traditional petroleum-based paraffin wax burns longer and cleaner, providing a more efficient and more eco-friendly way to enjoy candles. We use natural cotton fibre wicks that are lead-free and are not blended with any additives.

QuinnSea is cruelty-free and does not conduct or endorse testing on animals. We strive to stock products that meet consumers’ needs while also respecting the lives of all animals.

We only purchase from suppliers who have policies that align with our own. All packaging used at QuinnSea is both recycled and recyclable.

REFILLS

Throwing away (even to recycle) our beautiful candle jars just feels like a waste, therefore we offer a refill service.  All jars are refillable at 20% less the original purchase price. You can choose your favourite fragrance or try a new one! This service is currently only available to those who can drop off their candle and not via post.

Tips to clean your candle jar

METHOD 1 - Boiling water (our favourite)

  • Place your spent candle on a protective surface, like a dish towel or a potholder.
  • Boil enough water to fill the candle jar, then pour into the container, leaving a few centimetres of space at the top. The water will melt the candle wax, causing it to float to the surface of the container.
  • Let it cool completely before removing the wax.
  • Strain the water and the remaining candle bits, and avoid getting wax in the sink drain.
  • Be sure that all wax remnants are out of the sink before releasing the drain stopper, as wax will clog a drain.

METHOD 2 - Oven

  • This method allows you to remove wax from multiple candles at once if needed. Begin by preheating your oven to 80 degrees.
  • Line a baking tray with baking paper and place your spent candles upside-down on the foil. Place the baking sheet into the heated oven.
  • Keep a close eye on the candles; after about 15 minutes, the wax should pool on the baking paper.
  • Take it out of the oven, set on a heat-safe surface, and remove the jars using an oven mitt. Let each candle jar cool before cleaning with soap and warm water.
  • Once the leftover wax has dried, you can remove it from the baking paper to use in the future or discard.

OTHER USES FOR JARS

You can reuse candle jars as storage for office supplies, craft accessories, or bath items like cotton swabs or hair-ties. Use large glass candle jars as planters or vases for flowers!

REUSE LEFT OVER WAX

Get the most out of every candle: pop it into a small, breathable bag and put it in your underwear drawer, sock drawer or wardrobe!
